DUST UPDATE/SCORBIE TWINS/CHICKEN POX:

DUST: I HAVE JUST FINISHED ANOTHER TRACK FOR DUST CALLED 'PUNCTURE'. THAT SHOULD BRING THE TRACK TOTAL TO ABOUT 9 OR 10, SO JUST A COUPLE MORE TO GO. A FEW STILL NEED VOCALS BUT IT'S COMING ALONG NICELY.

SCORBIE TWINS: WE HAD A SCARE AND THE TWINS TRIED TO COME OUT 5 WEEKS EARLY. EVERYTHING'S FINE AND THEY DECIDED TO STAY IN THE WOMB FOR A WHILE LONGER.
I DON'T BLAME THEM.
MRS SCORBIE AND I SPENT TWO WEEKS IN HOSPITAL (THE NHS SENT US ON A LOVELY WEEK HOLIDAY TO PRESTON, BUT THAT'S ANOTHER STORY), AND AFTER TWO WEEKS OF CONTRACTIONS EVERYTHING STOPPED. THEN...

CHICKEN POX: THE DAY AFTER WE GOT BACK TO MANCHESTER MY FACE EXPLODED WITH CHICKEN POX! THEN IT MOVED NICELY ALL OVER MY BODY AND I WAS IN BED FOR A WEEK. THE PAIN WAS OVERWHELMING. I DIDN'T SLEEP FOR DAYS AND ATE VERY LITTLE. IT'S ALL CLEARED UP NOW. JUST WORKING ON GETTING MY ENERGY LEVELS BACK AND REJOINING THE WORLD.

THE FIRST FOUR SONGS ON THIS MINI ALBUM WERE THE FIRST RECORDED LAST YEAR FOR THE DUST SESSIONS. DUST HAS EVOLVED INTO A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ALBUM ALTOGETHER AND THESE SONGS NO LONGER SEEM TO 'FIT IN'. I AM VERY PROUD OF THESE SONGS AND DIDN'T WANT TO JUST CUT THEM, SO THEY APPEAR HERE ALONG WITH OTHER TRACKS AND MIXES RECORDED OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS. THIS WILL ALSO BUY ME SOME TIME TO GET DUST FINISHED!

FRACTURE- NEW EDITION:

Not to be confused with the limited, green tinted numbered version. Those are gone. I have decided to get an additional 500 professionally manufactured CDs with new artwork and the lyrics printed within the booklet. The disc itself will also have new artwork. Because of the cost these will be £1 more than the regular version. They are available now for £6.99.

The workload of making every single CD has started to take up too much time.
It makes sense to just have it done professionally at this stage.
With that said this will be the final version of Fracture. When these sell out I will have more of the same made until the new album in 2008.

On a very cool note, the CDs are being made by Torch Music (www.torchmusic.co.uk) in Berkshire.
The man who is in charge of my project is none other than Sean Lynch, assistant engineer to Nick Smith on Gary Numan's brilliant albums Dance and I, Assassin!
It took me a few days before I realized who I was dealing with. How cool is that?

FUTURE MUSIC #187 review of Smear:
I submitted 'Smear' to Future Music mag about a month and a half ago. Something I've wanted to do for over ten years. I decided now that I live in the UK it was time.
I was contacted in about two weeks telling me I had made it to the top 10. Cool!
I was surprised they contacted me so soon as they state it takes a few months due to overwhelming amout of demos they receive every month. It was either a slow month or my track stood out. I'd like to believe the latter. :)
I took 5th place out of 10.

The FM review: This is a difficult genre to get right as it has to sound big, sometimes that can prove difficult in most small studios. This is getting there but it's a bit muddy. Musically it's hard to fault, it's just a case of working on the production 'til it's ultra powerful. Bags of potential in this retro Synth-Rock track.

Fair enough. I've been criticized for too much low end before. Overall I'm chuffed that I made 5th place or that I even made it all at. My only complaint is that they didn't add the cover, since they always have before for the top ten, and I had to email a hi-res version of it to them. They decided this issue should only include the top 4 covers. I feel like I have Gary's luck in this matter. :)
Nevertheless, cool!

STUDIO UP AND RUNNING:

This past week everything's been installed and I've ironed out the bugs by remaking the song 'Mr. Medium' from the album Orahell. It turned out well except reprogramming my vocal effect settings within Logic. Will soon have that sorted. So I'm back in business and will get to work on my new project 'ANODYNE' very soon. Yes, it's a track from Fracture, but I think it makes a good album title. Late 2007 early 2008?

FUTURE MUSIC and a new Hard Drive:

FUTURE MUSIC: I have just been told I will be in the May issue of the UKs most excellent music magazine FUTURE MUSIC. Nothing huge or anything, just the song 'Smear' on the DVD, a pic of the 'FRACTURE' CD cover and a very small review.

NEW HARD DRIVE: I've almost given up hope on saving my hard drive. It has all of the tracks from FRACTURE so I'll never be able to go back to them. At least I have the master disc. All of my work (music and art) seem to be lost. The good news is I've located all of my software so I won't need to spend £600 on a new copy of Logic. At least I'll be able to start working on new material.

HARD DRIVE CRASH:

For those curious as to why things have been so quiet lately is because my main computer used for recording has a SYSTEM32 error. I have done what I can, using online help and have only made matters worse. Now the hard drive isn't being recognized. It has been quite frustrating to say the least. The hard drive holds everything I've recorded and designed over the past 5 years. I don't mind too much if I lose anything because I rarely go back to a song, and most of the important artwork is on another computer, but having to reload every bit of software (if I can find it!) is what I don't look forward to. I'll soon sort it out. Sorry for the delay.

FRACTURE FINISHED: I have decided to make FRACTURE an 11 track CD instead of 12 as originally planned. The album still clocks in at almost an hour and I think I've pretty much said what needed to be said. The end of a very long period of my life, one with disatrous relationships destined for failure and my own personal issues that saw to it. Then the other side with a new lease on life. A new love, a new country. It's time to move on. Over the next few days I will be struggling with learning how to integrate my paypal account with this website so it will finally be available. Sorry for the delay.

20 NOV 2006

I'm back! When I packed my studio up in the US I was told it would take 30 days to arrive in the UK. It took about 80. My trusty Kurzweil K2600XS and VirusB have arrived and I just set up the new studio furniture today. All that's left is converting the power from US to UK. I have the big box, just didn't think to bring my power strips over. Soon sort it out. Then I'll finish the last track and get this album finished. I'm ready to move on to a more electronic based sound. Less guitar, more bleeps. Check back soon.

SEP 2006

The new album FRACTURE should be finished this month. I want to make it a 12 track CD so I have one more song to finish. As soon as it's done it will be made available in the shop section for £8.
